NFTR have released yet another classic video interview. This time round the talkshow hosts; Duane Jones aka Vis (Renowned), Posty (GRM Daily) and Chams (Face4Music) sat down with South London dynamic duo Casyo “Krept” Johnson And Karl “Konan” Wilson, to discuss their personal experiences within the music industry.

Zayn Malik’s (1 Direction) G4

The infamous ‘Mcdonalds on a G4’ line, taken from their hit single “Freak of the week”, was inspired during a legendary moment, when former 1 Direction member Zayn Malik casually offered Krept and konan free use of his G4 Jet. They had 2 hours to get everything sorted. In a frantic panic for passports, clothes and friends to accompany them, they somehow managed to gather all possessions and jumped on the Jet for an unforgettable experience.

Wiz Khalifa feature fraud

It has been widely publicised that Wiz khalifa is a featured artist on Krept and Konan’s debut album ‘The Long Way Home’. During the process of recording his feature, it was discovered that a well known UK artist, name kept anonymous, had approached Wiz Khalifa to jump on their track. As a persuasion tactic, the unnamed artists falsely claimed that Krept and Konan had already done verses on the track. Consequently the track was not released when all parties found out the truth.

Konan was once homeless

Youtube viewers, of their classic 2011 “Otis” freestyle, criticised Konan for his choice of dress sense. What is the harm in wearing a pair of jeans and white t-shirt? It was revealed in the interview that Konan was in fact homeless during the process of filming the video and they were the only clothes that he owned. How many homeless rappers do you know who have gone on to international success?

The features on their forthcoming album were not planned

There is a big public misconception floating around that, since signing to Virgin, the dynamic duo have been given massive help to get all the American features on their album. However, Krept and Konan revealed that all the features on the album happened organically via their personal relationships and experiences in the industry. The album, ‘TLWH’ features; Emelie Sande, Ed Sheeran, Rick Ross, Rebecca Garton, YG and many more.

The Meek Mill feature that didn’t happen

Krept & Konan also revealed that MMG recording artist Meek Mill was supposed to feature on their single, “Certified”. Meek Mill was keen to jump on the street banger, but due to schedules and record label politics, the MMG recording artist was unable to sign off on the track in the time frame required. Imagine the madness if he made the cut. Just imagine.

Krept & Konan were originally on Tinie tempah’s “Peak”

Apparently Krept & Konan jumped on the original version of Tinie Tempah’s “Peak” response to the Grime beef, aimed at Chip. The problem however; no one had told the bosses at Virgin that they were part of the original track. The duo’s verses were promptly removed, as Virgin felt the release would clash with their next single.

The Dot Rotten beef

In 2014, Minarmy London rapper, Dot Rotten released “You Wasted My Time”, dissing Krept and Konan. When asked what may have lead Dot to release a diss song, they both said they are still to this day fully confused as to why this happened. Anyone have the answers?

Friendship with Bonkaz and Stormzy

Krept and Konan revealed that they grew up with London rappers Section Boyz, Stormzy and Bonkaz. It was also revealed that Bonkaz and Stormzy originally named themselves after Krept. Stormzy went by the alias Tiny Krept and Bonkaz took on the street name Younger Krept.
