After falling out in 2011, friends Noel Clarke and Adam Deacon have either been feuding on twitter or not speaking at all.

“We fell out in 2011 due to the fact that the films that I had made – Kidulthood and Adulthood – were very popular and in 2010 Mr Deacon asked if he could do a film which was a spoof of the film that I had done.”

The court heard that Clarke was helping Deacon work on the film, until Deacon signed a contract cutting Clarke out of the process and their friendship ended. Deacon assured Clarke that he would not continue to call the film “Anuvahood” despite their going seperate ways, but shortly after Deacon ignored this agreement and kept the title.

Clarke then argued that he was the recipient of huge amounts of abuse on social media from Deacon, including statements that he sabotaged Deacon’s career. Clarke said he ignored the abuse but it was stressful for his wife and family, as some of the abuse included Deacon calling him a bully, trying to get people to hurt him and tweeting pictures of his children next to gun emojis.

The judge told Deacon, “You were aware of the effect you had, you intended to cause him… distress.”

Clarke believes that he received death threats, telling the court, “It is a death threat isn’t it, really? If we are being honest.”

Deacon’s sentencing will be on the 20th August.
