Former Liverpool F.C defender Andre Wisdom is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in an “unprovoked assault and robbery” in Liverpool.
The 27-year-old was attacked whilst visiting family, his current club Derby County confirmed on Monday (June 29). Merseyside police are investigating the incident.
The club have said Wisdom will make a full recovery and that they will “will focus its efforts on supporting Andre and his family.” The club also took to Twitter to show their support for the player, writing: “Get well soon, Wis.”
Andre Wisdom left Liverpool F.C. in 2017 for Derby County after making 14 appearances during his 5-year period at the club.
He is expected to be discharged from hospital before the weekend.
