Today marked the second set of Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd in the US and Belly Munjinga in the UK.

For the aforementioned and the countless others who have had their lives cut short due to systemic and institutional racism on both sides of the pond, thousands of people protested peacefully today in the hope of impacting change.

Protests took place across the UK today – including in Manchester, Ipswich, Wales, Luton, Bath, Milton Keynes and, Watford – where heavyweight champion boxer Anthony Joshua gave an impassioned speech.

AJ said “racism is a virus and you’re the vaccine”.

Take in his full speech below.

An estimated total of between 10,000 and 15,000 people attended the Westminster Parliament Square protest alone. Attendees also held a minutes silence for the victims of the Windrush scandal.

Protests are planned throughout the weekend. Please be safe if you attend and make sure you’re clued up on your rights as a protester beforehand.
