‘Top Boy’ frontman and grime pioneer Ashley ‘Asher D’ Walters has given fans a first-hand insight into the numerous culture-shifting projects he has been a part of, and disclosed some new material he is working on.

Speaking to Complex UK, Walters discussed everything from So Solid, to ‘Top Boy’, to 50 Cent.

On the potential for a new ‘Top Boy’ series, he said: “What I can say is that, behind the scenes, there’s some serious work going on to make it happen, and between a lot of good people too… Drake is involved. He’s coming on board to help and try and push the situation forward.”

On his collaboration with Fiddy, he said: “He was going to be on my album that I put out shortly after [appearing in ‘Get Rich or Die Trying’] but it just never worked out. It’s hard to get Americans to sign paperwork!”

On future ambitions he said: “I’d love to be James Bond. I think there’s going be a black James Bond soon, and I hope I’m in the running.”

On a So Solid reunion, he said: “It’s on the cards; we’re in the studio at the moment… there’s a So Solid project, me and Swiss’, and Mega’s got one as well, so we’re all just trying to fit it into a timeline that helps everyone.”

After his well-documented issues with the law and government ministers, Walters was also asked if he had regrets. His reply seemed emphatic. “Hell no! That’s what I’m saying: you have to learn to live with regrets. I had an amazing time, I had amazing experiences, I’ve still got a career now, I’m still working, and I’m thankful for that.”

Walters was speaking to promote his new E4 series ‘The Aliens’, which you can watch here.
