In a now-deleted Facebook post, Azaelia Banks detailed a racially-aggravated assault that she was victim to this weekend, allegedly from actor Russell Crowe. The event happened at Crowe’s party which he had invited RZA to, not knowing that the Wu-Tang legend would bring Azealia along.
According to the post, Crowe, known for his parts in Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind, called Banks a n*gger, choked her, and spat at her, while the others in the room turned a blind eye.
But TMZ claimed that it didn’t go down like this. According to eyewitness accounts, they state that the trouble started after an Azealia outburst in which she laughed at Crowe’s music selection before calling him and his friends “boring white men.” A female guest then jumped to defend Crowe, leading to Banks making a speech along the lines of, “You would love it if I broke my glass, stabbed you guys in the throat, and blood would squirt everywhere like some real Tarantino shit,” as well as dropping a couple of n-bombs.
The gossip site states: “We’re told a female guest jumped to Russell’s defense and suggested Banks pipe down. We’re told Azealia reached for her glass, cocked it back … and that’s when Russell had enough — he grabbed her in a bear hug and carried her out of the suite. He then called hotel security guards who removed Azealia from the grounds.”
As you can see, contrary to TMZ’s statement that Banks herself was the one saying the n-word, in the Facebook post Banks claims Crowe said it, but RZA says Banks is making it up.
As the claims are all from eyewitness accounts nobody is 100% sure what went down, and many suspect that Banks has made up the accusations she put on Facebook.
