Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to be released later this year and with a trailer dropping and an unveiling event taking place earlier in the week, here is everything we know about the upcoming game sequel.

Due for release on the 13th November, Black Ops Cold War is being teased under the tagline, “know your history or be doomed to repeat it” and is set to take place in the 1980s – chronicling tensions between the USSR and the USA.

Expect a recreation of real-life events in the Campaign Mode and depictions of Soviet and KGB spies.

The trailer confirms this – with an animated image of Soviet Journalist and KGB informant Yuri Bezmenov taking centre stage throughout.

In a blog posted to their website, Activision said, “Taking place after the events of the original story, Black Ops Cold War reunites players with legendary operatives Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and Jason Hudson as they’re pulled into a high-stakes conspiracy. Joined by a new cast of characters and faced with threats from the past, players will uncover a subversive plot with devastating global implications.”

“It’s 1981 and a global threat is looming at the height of the Cold War. As the world rests on the brink of nuclear conflict, a newly-formed team of CIA operatives will engage in a series of deniable operations and covert spycraft to prevent an unimaginable disaster.”

The blog added, “The single-player Campaign experience led by Raven Software arms players with an array of badass munitions, including fan-favourite classic firearms and prototypical weaponry from the Cold War era. The race is on to discover the truth and battle through mind-bending twists and turns that only Black Ops can deliver.”

Activision also confirmed that the game will become available on Next Gen consoles whenever they become available – with players being able to move their progress across to their upgraded gaming systems.

Call of Duty Zombies is expected to return with all-new content and features.
