Brace yourself gamers, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 might be arriving soon.

The Modern Warfare series is a spinoff from the original main Call of Duty title and has seen three title releases since the original dropped in 2007.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii in 2011 and fans have been patiently waiting for clues and an announcement that the series will continue ever since.

Rumours are swirling around online that the game will be released on the 8th of October this year with insiders and industry employees posting spoilers to social media platforms and forums such as Reddit that are attracting attention from eager gamers.

Gamespot has reported that at least five of the LinkedIn profiles for former developers of the video game have been updated to indicate that they are back working with the studio.

The most legit ‘confirmation’ has come from Robert Bowling, who acted as the community manager for Activision during the game’s conception. Robert recently tweeted “I will let you down. I will make you hurt. 10.8.19” along with a video that appears to use imagery and sound effects from the Call of Duty game universe.

Check out the tweet and video below to judge for yourself.

The rumours come just before the E3 2019 event which is where the previous Call of Duty games have been announced and previewed.

Other games expected to be announced and previewed at E3 2019 include the new instalment in the Halo franchise and a new game from Rockstar; the studio behind Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption and Bully.
