Following Amazon’s expansion into grocery delivery services, Uber has just launched its own delivery service, UberEats, in the UK.

UberEats was launched in London today and is now available to download for access to 150 restaurants. Unfortunately the service is only available in central London so far. See the full list of available restaurants here.

Uber has said it will be pushing the service out to the rest of London and eventually the UK “in the coming weeks”, but hasn’t given an exact timeframe. You can already get the service in 16 major cities, mainly in the US.

The service beats competitors like Just Eat with having no minimum order, while delivery is available from 11am to 11pm. Food companies signed up so far include Hummus Bros, Pho, frozen yoghurt shop Snog and Mexican restaurant Chilango.

Your food will be delivered by couriers who are contractors rather than direct employees, just like Uber taxi drivers. Uber has said that “hundreds” have signed up.
