WhatsApp and Snapchat are used daily by millions of people but in the UK David Cameron is seeking to put a ban on some of your favourite messaging apps.

Most of us are aware that the police and government can pretty much find and track your movements if you have a smart phone, well now it looks like with a Tory government in power our social messaging freedom may just be infringed or totally taken away from us.

Last year David Cameron and the tories tried to force through a new legislation called the ‘Snooper Charter’ which would stop people from sending any form of encrypted messages via iMessage, Snapchat or WhatsApp. Fortunately the deputy prime mister and former Liberal Democrats leader Nick Clegg, managed to put a halt to things whilst still in a coalition government.

Now with Cameron fully in power, it could be a possibility that by Autumn you may have to go back to sending good old fashion text messages and say good bye to your beloved Snapchats and WhatsApp.

Speaking on the matter earlier on in the year the Tory leader said “In our country, do we want to allow a means of communication between people which we cannot read? My answer to that question is: ‘No, we must not’.”

If the government don’t ban these apps then amendments will be made for private online communication services and online digital giants like Google, Apple, Facebook and WhatsApp to keep a record of all of your activity. PEAK!

Adding all this to a huge database of information where all of your Google searches, Facebook messages, WhatsApp group convos and Snapchat videos will be available to the police and government whenever they wish to access it.

Currently a warrant must be signed by the Home Secretary, Theresa May, if the authorities wish to access your data.

While David Cameron dresses up the ‘Snoopers Charter’ as a matter of national security, many feel that if this legalisation is to be put through it will be a huge invasion on public privacy.

The joys of living under a Conservative government continue.
