Disney has just announced that it is stepping into the streaming service world with its own platform called Disney Plus.

All new Disney theatrical releases which include the upcoming Marvel and Star Wars movies Captain Marvel and the Star Wars original and prequel trilogies will feature on the platform. Disney also plan to eventually move all existing Disney films on to the platform once current streaming deals with other platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime expire.

Disney also announced that three original Marvel-based TV shows would be developed for the platform including a Thor spin-off
which will see Tom Hiddleston reprise his role as Loki, a series which will follow the characters of Scarlet Witch and Vision as well as a new series starring Captain America’s Falcon featuring Anthony Mackie.

Adding to the Marvel-based TV shows, Disney Plus will also create two new spin-offs from the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian will be one show which will be available from launch and the second spin-off series will be on the Rogue One film.

Disney Plus will launch first in the US however for fans outside the states, there will be a wait as the company have not yet announced plans for a global release.
