Dotty has announced that she is leaving BBC Radio 1Xtra after 6 years at the station.

The radio DJ revealed the news on Twitter today (July 2), writing: “This will be my last month on @1XTRA, a radio station that changed my life forever when they gave me a show in 2014.

“Spending the last 6 years with the greatest listeners, artists & broadcasters in the world has been a dream to me. To anyone that has ever listened.. Thank-you.”

Dotty initially established herself in the scene as an MC – known as Amplify Dot – towards the start of the last decade, before joining 1Xtra and hosting a number of shows in 2014.

In 2016, Dotty made history when she became the first ever solo female to host The 1xtra Breakfast Show, interviewing the likes of Stormzy, Denzel Washington, Jada Pinkett Smith and many other big names.

Dotty hasn’t revealed what she’s got planned for the future just yet but she did say she has “very (very!) exciting news coming soon.”
