In an interview with Philadelphia’s Power 99, Ice Cube and director F. Gary Gray, speak on the upcoming N.W.A biopic – Straight Outta Compton, where they mention details about the soundtrack for the film. The movie is set to be released August 14.
When Ice Cube was asked by DJ Mikey Dredd , if the soundtrack would include new music from N.W.A, he responded by saying it will and he also shared; “Dre is dropping an album inspired by the Compton movie. He’s dropping something on August 1.”
In light of the movie, there have been rumours for a N.W.A reunion tour, when Ice Cube was asked about this, he responded; “It’s definitely, definitely possible.”
‘Compton: The Soundtrack’ will be released on August 7 on iTunes and Apple Music. Dre announced the date on his Beats 1 radio show The Pharmacy last night. Below he tweeted a clip of him explaining on the show, why he decided to do this album. Dre mentions; “I felt myself just being so inspired by the movie that I started recording an album.” He also added; “It’s gonna be my grande finale.”

On the show he also comments on the famously awaited ‘Detox’ and why it was not released. Dre shared; “The reason Detox didn’t come out was because I didn’t like it. I don’t think I did a good enough job, and I couldn’t do that to my fans and I couldn’t do that to myself, to be perfectly honest with you. I just wasn’t feeling it.”
