The ever controversial Sepp Blatter is set to face criminal investigation in his homeland of Switzerland in what is another blow for FIFA.

It’s believed that the country’s attorney general has opened proceedings due to “suspicion of criminal mismanagement and suspicion of misappropriation” of funds.

This revolves around suspected ‘disloyal payments’ totalling millions of pounds/euros including the likes of Caribbean football chief Jack Warner and head of UEFA Michel Platini.

Blatter’s office was reportedly searched and the Swiss-born figure was questioned by police.

Following raids on senior FIFA officials back in May, the questioning of the FIFA president should come as no surprise.

Such developments are another in a long list of rumoured misdemeanours that the the 79-year-old has seen himself involved in.
