The show that captured the nation’s imagination sadly came to an end last week, although we’re confident that we certainly haven’t see the last of this seasons stars.
Unfortunately not everyone has been able to engage in the light-hearted fun of the programme and have taken to the cowardly act of hurling racist abuse from the safety of their phones at contestant Gabby, but directed at her boyfriend Marcel.
Gabby has commented on the incident saying, “I have been reading through some of the messages I’ve received over the past few weeks and I’m absolutely horrified at the amount of disgusting racial abuse due to mine and Marcel’s relationship.
“It’s completely unacceptable and to know that this is still goes on in 2017, it breaks my heart. I’ve grown up in multi-cultural and LGBTQIA environments all my life. To know that this is still a thing, I’m mind blown.”
She has threatened to name and shame the perpetrators if the abuse continues, and frankly we hope that she does as too often these deeds go unpunished.
