What’s great about the young and developing scene we have in London (and beyond), is the sheer diversity of it. It seems every day a new artist is coming to our attention, sounding new and innovative and original, yet still so distinctly British. Artists are getting weird and artists are getting experimental, and it’s due time we started highlighting some of these creatives that may otherwise slip under our radar. With that being said, we’ve devised this column those looking for something different; Go Left, GRM’s guide to alternative grime, hip-hop and R&B.

We will also be uploading more alternative videos onto our YouTube channel. If you fit in with those who don’t fit in, are part of the Go Left gang and have something wavy for us, send an email to [email protected]

Be sure to check out the last column of dopeness right here too.

Oscar #worldpeace – “That’s Alright” (ft. Ragz Originale)

GRM Daily

Oscar #worldpeace follows up his stellar single “No Change”, with another unorthodox, clever and witty track called “That’s Alright”. He drops tongue in cheek lyrics using an experimental flow, while the wonky production comes from Skepta’s “Shutdown” producer Ragz Originale.

Temz – “Gyal Clown”

GRM Daily

South London rapper Temz is back with another solo record, releasing the sunny and funny track “Gyal Clown”, which sees him hilariously ducking from a girls dad. He doesn’t take himself too seriously on the track and has a clear sense of individuality. This combined with his last release “Caravan” prove that Temz knows who he is. It’s only a matter of time until you do too.

GRIM – “Wasting Time”

GRM Daily

South Midlands-born R&B artist GRIM is back on the pages of Go Left with another doozy. He’s starting to find his rhythm, with his production reaching new heights. “Wasting Time” is a glossy and contemporary track that him desperately trying to impress a love interest. #GRMSZN is apparently on the way, so be on the look out for that.

Gray – “You Should” (ft. Jords & Ellz)

GRM Daily

Gray is a member of South London collective Badside, who moonlights as a photographer and a designer on the side. He’s released a smooth new trapsoul track called “You Should”, which features Go Left favourite Jords, as well as fellow Badside reps Ellz and EVNS (who handles producky).

The Last Skeptik – “Do It Like This”

GRM Daily

The Last Skeptik is undoubtedly one of the UK’s best hip-hop producers and DJ’s, having produced for a handful of familiar faces. The Hackney born artist is set to release a brand new beat tape imminently, and has dropped off a new single in the process. Listen to “Do It Like This” below, a wavy, almost 8-bit sounding take on trap music.
