We’ve got something a little special from Go Left this week, to supplement our weekly guide to alternative grime, hip-hop and R&B (you can pree the latest edition here).

The reason we started the column was to shine a light on the slightly more out-there, but still dope artists that may otherwise slip under our radar. With that being said, we’re very pleased to present you with a very wavy, very legit Go Left exclusive.

Introducing JD Cliffe and Peter Xan, the artist and producer duo who you may not be familiar with, but are two names you’re set to be seeing a fair bit of over the next year. From North and East London respectively and both repping art collective Sydney Wyatt, they’ve given us the go ahead to premiere their brand new collaborative EP ‘Hollywood’.

Standing at just 4 tracks tall, it’s a sense of quality rather than quantity with the release. An eclectic collection of left-field, soul-tinged, new wave raps, JD Cliffe has a delivery that is influenced by the likes of Stateside artists like Future and Kid Cudi, but remains distinctly his own. Whether it’s over Peter Xan’s sunny, electronic-tinged production on opener “Hollywood”, or straight seducing on the more low key “R U DWN” (which has hook of the year in “I just wanna make your motherf*cking mother proud” BTW), the pairs chemistry thrives across the board.

Check out the 4 track ‘Hollywood’ EP below and don’t be scared to let us know your thoughts. Follow JD and Peter on their socials too.
