Harry Maguire has been included in the squad for England’s upcoming Nation League games against Iceland and Denmark days after being arrested while on a family vacation.

The Manchester United captain’s call-up for England comes as a trial is underway following an alleged brawl on the Greek island of Mykonos last week. According to police, an altercation occurred and words were exchanged with an officer attempting to break up a fight.

Maguire and two other Britons were arrested and taken to a police station, where the footballer allegedly said to officers: “Do you know who I am? I am the captain of Manchester United, I am very rich, I can give you money, I can pay you, please let us go.”

The 27-year-old – who has since returned to England and is now being represented by his lawyer on the island of Syros – has denied charges of aggravated assault and attempted bribery of a police officer.

Despite the ongoing trial, Maguire has been included in the England squad alongside the likes of Marcus Rashford, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.
