After working together in Anglia Ruskin University, Isaac Reeder, Noah Harries, and Alex Brawley created a piece focusing on the Drum & Bass collective, SASASAS.

SASASAS included huge D&B and Jungle names including Shabba D, Macky Gee and of course, Stormin MC.

Finishing their project on SASASAS, the trio decided to create a short 10-minute documentary on Stormin following his life and career as a final university piece.

As they started to create their short documentary, Stormin became increasingly ill. What started as a 10-minute project on his life as an artist became a 40-minute film into the struggles he was now facing as he battled against cancer.

Last week the film Hype Master hit screens as part of Doc’n Roll’s sixth edition of their music documentary festival. The London Premiere, held in Bethnal Green’s Genesis Cinema saw Stormin’s friends, family and fellow MC ’s attend the charity event in reflection and celebration of the artists’ life.

Directed, filmed, produced and edited by the three university students, the film showed Stomin as he began his career as an underground Grime artist and followed him as he transitions into one of the biggest Drum and Bass MC’s in the world. The touching documentary holds interviews from his close friends and family as they capture his journey and speak on the struggles he faced in his final years of living with skin cancer.

The emotional film watches Stormin as he fights through chemotherapy, operations, family losses, and multiple other struggles whilst continuing to battle on with his amazing career in the music scene. Remaining positive throughout, the documentary shines a light on the incredible artist and his commitment to the scene and his loved ones.

In a Q&A with both Isaac Reeder and Noah Harries after the premiere, the pair expressed that they hope to release the film early next year for others to view the story.
