Iconic ‘Eastenders’ Character Quits Show After 35 Years

An iconic Eastenders actress has announced her departure from the popular soap opera.

June Brown, who plays Dot Cotton, has revealed she has left Eastenders after 35 years on the show. Speaking to the Distinct Nostalgia podcast, the 93-year-old actress said “I’ve left for good”.

June Brown joined the cast of Eastenders back in 1985 and quickly became a fan favourite.

An Eastenders spokesperson has said the “door remains open” for Brown to make a return but she is adamant that her departure is permanent.

The character of Dot Cotton last featured on Eastenders last month, leaving a voicemail revealing she had moved to Ireland and according to June Brown, “that’s where she’ll stay”.

She said: ”I’ve sent myself to Ireland and that’s where she’ll stay. I’ve left EastEnders.”
