In a historic moment for rap music, Jay Z has become the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

To make the moment even more monumental, Jay was introduced to the elite list by none other than former US President, Barack Obama. Barmz gushed over his bond with his “friend” and may have even dropped that Beyonce is expecting twin girls.

In the video he said, “Nobody who met us as younger men would have expected us to be where we are today. We know what it’s like not to have a father around. We know what it’s like not to come from much, to know people didn’t get the same breaks that we did, so we try to pop up those doors of opportunity.”

Jay acknowledged the accolade by making a rare appearance on Twitter and citing some of his favourite artists. The list was an eclectic mix of rappers from the 80s up to today. Names included were 50 Cent, Snoop, Slick Rick, Mac Miller, MC Lite, Queen Latifah, Kendrick Lamar and many more.

Jay Z was unable to be at the ceremony in person as it is rumoured that Beyonce is set to drop the babbas at any minute. Looks like it’s shaping up to be a hell of a weekend for Sean Carter.
