Forbes is doing the scene right with its newly released 30 Under 30 list.

The annual list from the American business mag famously lists the young people to watch in the upcoming year in a number of different industries. A US and European list is dropped each year.

Different sectors that are feature in the list include entertainment, finance, industry (whatever that means), media, law & policy, retail & ecommerce, science & healthcare, the arts, social entrepreneurs and technology.

Featured in the entertainment sector includes Julie Adenuga, Stormzy, Emeli Sandé and Chewing Gum’s Michaela Coel. Big up, Forbes for representing the scene. Hell, even Radar Radio founder Ollie Ashley makes the cut.

The inclusion of these gems solidifies grime and urban culture’s place in modern Europe. Throughout last year and even in 2015, grime has been going from strength to strength. It’s easy to put Skepta’s face on this success, with his Mercury prize-winning album and sell out Ally Pally show. However by featuring Skep’s radio presenter sis, Forbes is cementing that the scene as a whole is doing big things rather than just crediting a select few, as mainstream media tends to do.

Hopefully the list is an indicator of things to come and we can expect a big 2017.
