It’s been a good week for the kid.

As if sparking a level of fire  not seen in London since 1666 in Charlie’s Booth wasn’t enough, Kano has also landed his first ever Top 10 album.

Made in the Manor‘, Kano’s seminal piece on the trials and tribulations of life in the East End, charted at number 8 in its first week, just one place behind fellow wordsmith Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Untitled Unmastered’, which was released on the same day.

Charting just behind Kendrick, and in a Top 10 that features the likes of Adele, Justin Bieber and Coldplay is recognition of the quality of the album, which features gritty bangers like “Three Wheel Ups” alongside introspective classics like “Strangers” and “Roadman’s Hymn”.

It is also a step in the right direction for a scene that has been without a great deal of success when it comes to albums, setting a bar for the likes of Stormzy to follow later this year (fingers crossed).

If you haven’t noticed – ‘Made in the Manor’ is very much out now. Grab it on iTunes here or stream on Spotify here.
