Bling is a rite of passage for a rapper. Gold and diamonds signify that you are on top, in both UK and US rap music.
UK artists like Knucks, Mist and Abracadabra rock grills and Drake not only has a diamond encrusted Stone Island necklace but recently revealed a diamond covered OVO owl pendant, complete with Hermes link (a la “Gyalchester” lyrics “Hermes link / Ice blue mink”). Now, the same company that created Drake’s wavy neckwear has posted their latest creation for Kendrick Lamar to their Instagram.
Ben Baller’s If & Co. jewelry posted the video above to their page over the weekend, the original video is gone but luckily it was ripped and uploaded to another account. The bottoms consist of 14-karat white gold encrusted with diamonds. The outer sections read “Kung Fu Kenny” in Chinese characters.
Kendrick made his triumphant return to the scene after 2015’s To Pimp a Butterfly with the release of two new tracks at the beginning of the month. “The Heart Part 4” and “Humble” were merely tasters however for the main event. His new album, as yet untitled, is set to drop this Friday (14th April).
