Veganism has been continuously growing as a trend over the past few years with more and more products constantly being introduced to the market but now, KFC – a fast-food restaurant profoundly known for it’s chicken – are about to launch their vegan range.

KFC have said that they are going to trial meatless “chicken” products. Their vegan “chicken” nuggets and wings which are made from plants are available in a store in the US today.

The meatless nuggets are available for only one day as they gauge the overall interest from customers in the Atlanta store. Teaming up with vegan food company, Beyond Meat, KFC aim to gain a better understanding of their vegan customers who can currently only purchase their sides and vegetarian rice boxes.

If positive feedback is gained from the one-day trial, the fast-food chain plans to put plant-based nuggets and wings on its permanent US menus.

KFC is just the latest company to jump on the veganism hype, with Greggs, Subway and Taco Bell also hosting a vegan menu. This comes as no surprise, with the number of vegans in the UK growing from 150,000 to 600,000 in just four years according to the Vegan society.
