Rising star Kwame Augustine has created a play which paints a picture of real London life. Johnny is a dark comedy which follows a young, black cockney as he struggles through the ends.

As the city changes around him, he fights against it, and his past, using his charm to overcome.

In an art form dominated by the white middle-class, Kwame has taken his career into his own hands by writing, producing and acting in the play. Already having received mad reviews from theatre companies across the country, the play looks set to be a game changer. Ideas about mental health, race, gender, class, and sexuality are all explored and pulled apart.

You can see the play August 7th – 9th at the Bridewell theatre off Fleet Street. If you’ve been waiting to get into theatre, this is the play to do it.
