UEFA are seeking to ban Manchester City from the Champions League for one season, according to a report from the New York Times.
The club are accused of breaking financial rules and are currently being investigated by UEFA investigators.
Last year, German newspaper Der Spiegel published a series of leaks indicating Manchester City had broken Financial Fair Play regulations by increasing the value of a multimillion-pound sponsorship deal. UEFA have been investigating since the reports were published.
City have contested the claims but a new report from the NY Times says UEFA investigators are planning on punishing the team with a season-long ban from the tournament.
The chairman of the investigatory panel of UEFA’s independent financial control board, Yves Leterme, is set to make a recommendation this week.
The news comes just days after Manchester City beat Brighton 4-1 to secure the Premier League title.
