Oh dear. Sometimes it just goes beyond credible belief that some ideas make it off of the cutting room floor and into full on production. Like this here blackface jacket.

Outerwear company Moncler have released a new version of their famous coat, that’s covered in the racist “golliwog”-like character, in association with art collective Friends With You. There’s art and then there’s insensitivity, if we’re being honest.

Moncler’s version of the “character” is called “Malfi” and adorned several pieces in their new line. They have since pulled the stock from their online store, but it’s more than likely the PR damage has been done.

Social media has since been slight with angry people slating the line, and drawing back to the harsh reality of where blackface comes from.

Safe to say you won’t be expecting to see these being rocked around London this coming winter. What do you think? Is the coat racist, or nah?
