This MP is trying to use Grenfell to move Notting Hill Carnival

Notting Hill Carnival is one of the most anticipated events of the summer. Celebrating diverse culture and West London community spirit it has reigned the largest street festival in Europe. So what becomes of Notting Hill Carnival if it isn’t in Notting Hill?

That might be a very real thing if the proposal to move it from Greg Hands, Chelsea & Fulham MP, goes through. He has put forward an open letter to Sadiq Khan urging him to consider moving the carnival due to the recent tragedies at Grenfell Tower. He asks if it is “appropriate” to stage the carnival in such close “proximity of a major national disaster”.

He hasn’t put forward a suggestion of where to move it to however. We reckon there will be some very mixed feelings about this proposition. Read his full letter below:
