Microsoft has announced a new Xbox console and it will arrival sooner than you think.
The name of the console is yet to be revealed and Microsoft is currently using Project Scarlett as a code name to refer to the new gaming system.
The tech giant has revealed that their flagship next-generation console will go on sale before the ending of 2020 which means that the short countdown for gamers begins immediately.
Project Scarlett is expected to have a custom designed AMD processor which will make it four times more powerful than the Xbox One X. It will also have 8K resolution playback, reduced loading times and will have the functionality to play games at 120 frames per second.
Microsoft did not reveal any images of the new console or indicate a price range but it was hinted that the console might make use of a cloud system.
Phil Spencer, chief of Xbox said, “When we talk about Xbox in the cloud, when we talk about streaming your games, Project Scarlett and all of its power and all of its performance is the foundation of our future in console and the formation of our future in cloud”.

The Project Scarlett announcement took place at the E3 event which also saw a special guest appearance from John Wick actor Keanu Reeves who announced his involvement in the new Cyberpunk 2077 game which will be released in April next year.
The gaming world is clearly revolutionising and evolving at the moment with Microsoft’s latest announcement and with Sony suggesting that the PlayStation 5 will be its last ever console. Read more about this here.
