Kevin Durant recently took to Instagram to post a graphic captioned “It’s not just the ink on my body…attacking in is my DNA. #KD8” in promotion of the upcoming Nike KD8 Basketball sneaker.

The graphic consists of a sabre-toothed tiger alongside the number 8.

Durant went on to post a second image which consisted of a detailed sketch of the sneaker, by designer Leo Chang (the man responsible for the design of each and every shoe in the Nike KD range). This second post being captioned “Coming soon… #KD8”, sneaker-heads and avid Basketball fans can only be left to wonder about the specifics of the shoe and only speculate as to when the release will be.

According to Nike, their KD8 is “the most technically advanced” shoe ever created for the Kevin Durant series of shoes designed at Nike.

Check below for more detailed images of those posted on instagram to promote the Nike KD8, along with some more info on the shoe.

Those that know of the previous designs by Nike for Durant will be no doubt notice the absence of the midfoot strap that had become such a recognisable feature of the Nike KD8 predecessor, the KD7.

Following leaked photos online of what the shoe may look like, it is possible that the Nike KD8 will be much more suited to runners than previous KD designs. The removal of the midfoot strap coupled with the addition of a knitted upper that is common throughout many of Nike Running’s – lines such as the Flyknit Lunar 3, Flyknit Racer and the Free 3.0 Flyknit – suggest that the Nike KD8 could be much more of a Basketball-Running hybrid.

In addition to the Flyknit technology, the KD8 could also boast Nike’s innovative Flywire technology, which would be incorporated into the shoe to boost support and comfort.
