Notting Hill Carnival has announced the line-up for its first ever digital event and among the names are some huge artists.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, a virtual edition of Notting Hill Carnival will be taking place instead this weekend (29th-31st August) across four channels and organisers have called on talent from Africa, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Grenada and the UK to celebrate the event.
Representing for the UK are artists such as Ms Banks, WSTRN, Omar, UK-based Stylo G and many more.
Also coming through with performances for the main stage at Notting Hill Carnival: Access All Areas are the likes of Koffee, Tiwa Savage and Davido.
Speaking on the digital event Notting Hill Carnival’s Executive Director Matthew Phillip said: “This year we faced the ultimate challenge of being unable to gather on the streets to celebrate our Carnival. But, now, more than ever, it’s important to keep the spirit of Notting Hill Carnival alive.
“Carnival is such an important part of people’s lives and key celebration of the multiculturalism of the UK, and we have a responsibility to our community and pioneers to honour that. We also have a responsibility to protect the black community and our elders by respecting social distancing and taking Carnival away from the streets for this year. So this is a fantastic solution for 2020.”
