Last week, we reported that Fabric was facing permanent closure due to a couple of recent drug-related deaths, as well as that a petition had started to save the famous nightclub.

Now, London Mayor Sadiq Khan has responded to the aforementioned petition, and has suggested that he’s firmly backing Fabric. He said, “London’s iconic clubs are an essential part of our cultural landscape.”

He did however also highlight the issue, saying, “Clubbing needs to be safe, “There have been two tragic deaths at Fabric over recent months and there are clearly issues that need addressing.

“I am committed to using the influence of my office to overcome the numerous challenges facing the night time economy.”

Despite his support, he reiterated, “City Hall does not have the power to intervene in licensing cases like the current situation with Fabric.”
