Not one, but two albums from our scene have been shortlisted for one of the most prestigious awards in music, the Mercury Prize.

Kano’s Made In The Manor LP and Skepta’s iconic album Konnichiwa both receive nods for the coveted award. It comes as no surprise, as both artists delivered highly successful and quality projects, but it’s still great to see them up and not ignored.

The Mercury Prize for Album of the Year is the music equivalent to the Booker Prize for literature and the Turner Prize for art. Past winners of the prize include James Blake and The Arctic Monkeys.

Other nominees include Laura Mvula, David Bowie and plenty more. Check out the full list of nominees right here.
