Tekashi 6ix9ine has been granted early release from prison because of the coronavirus outbreak.

6ix9ine asked for “compassionate release” as he worried that if he served the remainder of his sentence behind bars, he would catch the deadly COVID-19 virus which currently has most of the Western world in lockdown.

Tekashi suffers from asthma which puts him in the high-risk health category. The rapper has been open about his condition in the past and has publicly suffered severe asthma attacks and breathing difficulties.

The rapper was sentenced to 24 months behind bars for his association with the Nine Trey Gang and subsequent crimes. His time was drastically reduced from 47 years as he cooperated and assisted the police with their investigations by serving as a witness.

Tekashi was originally set to be released from prison on the 2nd of August 2020 but the rapper is now free four months earlier than planned.

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s lawyer said, “We’re all so pleased with the judge’s decision. Danny will be safe now.”

6ix9ine will serve the rest of his sentence at home under house arrest where he will be subject to GPS tracking and monitoring.
