20 year old Tink from Chicago is Timbaland’s latest protégé and arguably one of the hottest names in hip-hop right now. In mere months of 2014, the then 19-year-old singer, rapper and songwriter overflowed her fan base from the internet and wowed every music industry tastemaker within earshot. Audiences left the freshman’s performances under a spell; online tastemakers were astounded at how the Southside Chicago rapper began trending without visibility, rookies just wanted to know how she was able to spit over brilliant Timbaland tracks like a seasoned veteran.
Building herself a respectable name locally and online she dropped two mixtapes per year from 2012-2014––the most popular being ‘Winter’s Diary’, where she simultaneously rediscovered her songbird and realised how to stand out in a city saturated with gangster rap. An early 2014 collaboration with Tink and producers The Interns birthed the Internet sizzler ‘Don’t Tell Nobody’ (later featuring Jeremih). Her flow floored Timbaland so disruptively that he immediately flew her to his Los Angeles studio.
Working alongside one of the best producers in the industry, Tink has recently released “Ratchet Commandments”, the first track off her critically acclaimed debut album. Continuing her partnership with Timbaland she has also revealed the powerful remixed rendition of the late Aaliyah’s “One In A Million” titled “Million”.
