Gamers can look forward to two new PlayStation consoles next year according to reports.

Insiders are reporting that in a bid to intensify competition against Microsoft and their Xbox, Sony will release two new PlayStation consoles at the same time.

Sony are expected to release both the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation Pro, which is expected the be the more powerful counterpart to its sister release.

The news comes after reports of declining profits for Sony and increasing competition from rivals such as Microsoft and Nintendo.

Little has been revealed about the Playstation 5 except that it will be 8K compatible.

It was also suggested earlier in the year that the PlayStation 5 might be Sony’s last ever console. The CEO of the brand said at the time, “I actually don’t know. I’ve been around a while, and I sat there in 2012 and listened to all sorts of smart people tell me about mobile and that the PlayStation 4 was going to be the most terrible failure ever. The logic was actually hard to fault. But we believed in that product then, we believe in this next generation product now”.

He also added, “Who knows how it might evolve? Hybrid models between console and some sort of cloud model? Possibly that. I just don’t know. And if I did know, I wouldn’t tell you”.

The PlayStation 5 does not have a cemented release date but Sony has said that gamers should expect the console at some point in 2020.
