After scraping bronze in the men’s 100m this weekend at the Athletics World Championships and stopping with an injury during his final ever race, the 4x100m relay, Usain Bolt has said he is “saying goodbye to everything” upon closing his running career at the event.

30-year-old Bolt said,
“It’s really sad that I have to walk away now,” after completing a lap of honour of London Stadium on Sunday’s closing night. “I was saying goodbye to the fans and saying goodbye to my events also.”

When asked if he would consider returning to racing later in life, he stated: “I’ve seen too many people retire and come back just to make it worse or to shame themselves.

“I won’t be one of those people.”

However, although retiring from racing, it doesn’t look like Bolt is ending his sporting career any time soon.

Talks between him and Manchester United have been taking place for months now, alluding to him playing some part in a legends game with Barcelona at Old Trafford on the 2nd September.

Unfortunately, his playing in the game depends on how well he recovers from his injury, but fingers crossed this won’t be the last we see of the legend.
