Over the course of 2015, Avelino has built himself up as one of the hottest new stars in the UK rap scene. Since dropping his latest mixtape ‘Iconic Ambition‘ at the back end of 2014, Avelino has been making a name for himself wherever he goes. Whether it’s killing freestyles from Behind Barz to Fire In The Booth to a string of releases including “M.O.E (Remix)” [feat. MoStack & Haile], “Newstalgia” and “Shine” [feat. Bonkaz]. Earlier this month, the young MC also hooked up with Wretch 32, Calibar, Hunt and Bobii Lewis for the challenge to see if they could make a track in 30 minutes [check out the results here]. Through these platforms, Avelino has shown his skills on the microphone and made it clear he has the potential to break through.

While we haven’t heard any solo music from Avelino for a while now, this week saw the “leaked” release of a new freestyle “Scholarship”. The track covered is Drake and Future’s “Scholarships” from their 2015 collaborative project ‘What A Time To Be Alive‘. Using an already known and relatively new instrumental can be a risk but Avelino makes the track his own, talking on a range of subjects from his relationships with ladies and hustle and struggle to succeed. As well as dropping bars, Avelino shows his vocal range as he lays down a laid-back hook as well. 2016 is looking good for Av.
