Hailing from west London, the 15-year-old rapper has already started to make a name for himself in the scene. With influences coming firmly from within the UK, Young TY looks to the likes of Stormzy and Skepta for inspiration. Coming through with arguably the hardest flows and content for someone his age, he’s got a big future ahead.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO THE PEOPLE WHO SAY THAT BEING YOUNG GETS IN THE WAY OF YOUR TALENT?
I like it, I want it to inspire young people. They’ll see me and they’ll want to see more young people. Loads will want to look at what us young guys have to offer.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE GUILTY PLEASURE?
I listen to all kinds of music if I like it. I love a bit of Funky House, I listen to it in my mum’s car.
WHO ARE YOUR BIGGEST MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
A lot of the UK people like Skepta, Stormzy, Section Boyz, all south people. Not really U.S rappers, definitely the UK.
WHAT WOULD WINNING MEAN TO YOU?
It means a lot. It means a lot to get something on GRM Daily anyway, so to win something that could potentially bring me up a step in the game would be sick.
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF LAST YEAR’S RATED AWARDS AND WHAT DID THEY MEAN FOR THE SCENE?
Mad vibes, mad vibes. I wanted to be there, I wanted to climb through Snapchat and be there.
