Arriving off of his latest studio LP KOD, “Kevin’s Heart” is yet another one of the singles off the album which have been given the J. Cole visual treatment.

The track, a play on words, which correspond to comedian Kevin Hart, who also is the subject topic for the song, acts as a direct reference to Kevin Hart’s rocky marriage situation, stemming from him cheating on his partner in 2017. With the visuals playing a genius correspondence to the songs narrative, Cole explains that the core of the issue was at the hands of social media and in doing so clearly identifies this as an issue amongst this current generation, particularly due to the fact that when news broke, social media erupted, leading to an argument between Kevin’s wife Eniko Parrish and his ex-wife Torrei; exemplifying a greater issue of insecurity as a result of such social media consumption.

Officially his fifth studio album, this week KOD broke Apple Music’s current record for the most streams in the first 24 hours in the US, with 64.5 million streams on its debuting day. The album itself, in doing so, surpassed the previous record holder; who without surprise was none other than Drake with his 2016 Views release. Additionally, seven out of the top 10 most streamed tracks within a 24-hour period on the Apple Music platform came from Cole’s KOD.

Pulling in 66% of the first day streaming market share for the album in the states, as well as 60% worldwide. What is also bizarre is that although Apple Music has 120 million fewer global users than Spotify, it once again proved that, with these numbers, it can compete for the prestigious streaming throne.
