Noisey return with their third documentary presented by Mike Skinner, this time to uncover the story and come up of Birmingham’s rap scene.

With the likes of Mist, Jaykae, Lady Leshurr and Dapz On The Map all hailing from Birmingham, 0121 has really been put on the map of rap talents over the last few years. Growing up in Birmingham himself, it was only right that the legendary rapper presented the film, speaking to all of the artists listed above about their confidence in the City and how their success has influenced the latest generation of rappers.

Whilst the majority of the UK speak on their hate of the Brum accent on a daily basis, it’s undeniable that the artists coming from the Midlands city are some of the countries best talents. From Mist’s Diamond In The Dirt EP hitting number four in the UK Albums Chart and Jaykae’s single, “Toothache” featuring on the huge US TV series Power, the city is arguably one of the best when it comes to music output.

Watch the short film above and when you’re done make sure to check out Noisey’s Don’t Call It Road Rap film here on GRM Daily.
