Stormzy’s short film that we’ve all been waiting for titled Gang Signs And Prayers premiered on YouTube tonight.
It features fourteen year old Abdul Basit Ayanwusi playing the character of Thomas whose struggles documented in the film mirror the similar struggles which Stormzy himself has dealt with in life, and the struggles of a lot of other young people growing up in London.
Stormzy has said on the story, “Gang, Signs and Prayer for me is like balancing the inner battle I face, on a day-to-day basis. It’s like, two things inside of me that I can either decide to feed and decide to nurture, or I can try and let it die”
Its beautifully shot, and features songs from the GSAP album, performed as narration to the tale by Stormzy himself.
