Hosted by Duane Jones aka Vis (Renowned), Posty (GRM Daily) and Chams (Face4Music) Not For The Radio is a talk show packed with honesty, and as Jammer (BBK) was welcomed along as the first special guest, there was a lot to speculate and learn from.
1. Chip to be on the next Lord Of The Mics?
Chip returning to the school of Grime has caused great controversy, however, throughout the years it has been this controversy that has made LOTM so important and entertaining. With Chip rocking the latest LOTM pieces and strengthening his relationship with Jammer via his latest EP, expect things to pop off.
2. Jammer is a force to be reckoned with
Throughout the interview Jammer shares his philosophical standpoint on empowerment and his duty that comes with his status. The BBK vet announced alongside this that anyone can get it, and is more than happy to participate in the battles. Especially with the 10th anniversary of his LOTM platform coming up soon.
3. Chip did have “that” conversation
When Chip returned to 140bpm, opinions were split and the Grime protectionist that were eventually won over still felt they were owed an explanation for his journey and creative direction. An explanation never did fathom, but do not worry, Chip and Jammer sat down and had that covered. Let the man live now.
4. Skepta and LOTM?
Jammer has clearly mastered the art form of giving political answers, and when Skepta was made a topic, although Jammer did not say he would be on the DVD, he made it clear that Skep is as dead in this as he is. And if that is the case, then it is a guess worth making.
5. Kanye should be getting Grimey
Since Yeezus has established a relationship with our very own MC’s, rumours have spawned that Skepta and Kanye have been recording in the studio, following their joint show in Camden. Jammer confirms that good things are happening.
6. Whatever praises you had for BBK, double it
Jammer took the panel briefly by surprise when he made the statement BBK are taking it where So Solid have, and beyond. Although So Solid have moved units surpassing 100,000 and graced some of the biggest stages. What BBK are doing right now for the longevity of the culture, taking the sound global and venturing into the judgemental world of design and fashion is undeniable in importance for future generations.
7. Earz is back!
This is probably one of the best things to come from the interview, Earz was a favourite for anyone who was a fan of the culture during the early LOTM days, however after only a handful of releases and appearances musically he was off the scene and greatly missed. This would have been sussed out a while ago if you watched the LOTM x BOILER ROOM session, as you’d have seen him grace the Mic along-side your MC’s favourite MC’s.
8. BBK the album
It’s coming, but it’s not coming yet, but it should be coming, with timing. We just pray this isn’t a project that leaves us in as much anticipation as Dr.Dre’s ‘Detox’ album has.
9. BBK x Nike?
Jammer openly name drops converse and has an established working relationship with the brand, he was even in the middle of a meeting with them before he had to rush off to The Brits. However when questioned if Nike could be the next brand to collab with, it all got very hush.
10. Posty the Grime MC
Posty, GRM CEO and co-founder, wasn’t always just a broadcaster for urban talent, he actually used to broadcast his own talent. Technically it’s no surprised, check his outlandish “Aint On Nuttin Freestyle”.
