2019 has been a great year for albums and the Hyundai Mercury Prize have finally revealed their nominees for album of the year.
This year has seen the release of several sick rap albums in particular and a few of them have received the nod by making it onto the shortlist for this year’s Hyundai Mercury Prize.
Among the nominees is south London’s Dave and his critically-acclaimed album Pyschodrama. Also on the shortlist is Little Simz who has been nominated for her efforts on her recently released LP Grey Area.
Northampton’s slowthai is also in the running for the award for his debut album Nothing Great About Britain.
The winner of the 2019 Mercury Prize will be announced at the award ceremony set to take place at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith on September 19. The ceremony will also be broadcast live on BBC Four.
The shortlist comes a day after the Mercury Prize announced Stormzy, Jorja Smith and Annie Mac will be judges on the panel for the award this year.
