Going up against some of the countries biggest stars including Lewis Capaldi and The 1975; Stormzy, Kano and Dizzee Rascal all win big at this years Q Awards.
Put in place by popular music magazine, Q Magazine, the Q awards are an annual celebration of the UK’s biggest talents. Last year saw the likes of Taylor Swift and Noel Gallagher leading the categories, with Stormzy also bagging the prize for Best Solo Artist in 2017.
However, this year saw an increase of rap artists in each category and with 2019 being such a successful year for each genre which falls under rap, it’s of no surprise that these three artists all walked away with prizes.
Following the release of his highly praised album Hoodies All Summer which was released earlier this year, a lot of people have been reflecting on Kano’s influence on the UK music scene. Also starring in Top Boy as one of the lead characters, Kano won the Outstanding Contribution to Music award today.
Previously bagging the Best Solo Artist award in 2017 when up against the likes of Ed Sheeran and Lana Del Ray, Stormzy repeated history again today as he walked away with the Best Solo Act award.
Another legend in the UK’s rap game, Dizzee Rascal, also bagged a prize at this years Q Awards. This one being the Innovation in Sound award. Whilst Dizzee has been quiet in terms of releasing music this year, it shows that his dedication to music remains appreciated.
