Since revealing the shortlisted nominees back in July, anticipation has been high for the revelation of the 2020 Mercury Prize winner and it’s nearly time for us to find out!
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will not be a live awards show for the 2020 Hyundai Mercury Prize this year. However, that’s not stopping the Prize from celebrating the achievements of the artists as, instead, there will be extensive coverage of the Mercury Prize across the BBC.
At 10pm on BBC Four tomorrow (September 23), you can tune into the 2020 Hyundai Mercury Prize ‘Albums of the Year’ programme which will include live performances from many of the shortlisted artists.
On Thursday (September 24), the winner of the Prize will finally be revealed on The One Show, followed by ongoing coverage of nominees and a Mercury Prize special on BBC Radio 6 Music.
Following this, The Hyundai Mercury Prize 2020: Album of the Year programme and Later… with Jools Holland: Mercury Prize 2020 will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
Each year, the Hyundai Mercury Prize ‘Albums of the Year’ celebrates and promotes the best of British music, acknowledging artistic achievement across a number of genres.
Among the nominees this year are huge names including Kano, Stormzy, Michael Kiwanuka and more and we’ll find out who will be taking home the prize when the winner is announced on The One Show on Thursday!
