Just under 400kg worth of heroin has been found in a shipping container in Felixstowe, Suffolk.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) have said the drugs in the discovery – which is one of the largest seizures in the UK ever – is worth £9 million wholesale and around £40 million on the streets.
The drugs were found on Friday (August 2) after the NCA had been following a ship going to Belgium which they suspected contained a large shipment of drugs. The heroin was found under towels and bathrobes.
A man from Worcestershire and two men in Netherlands were arrested and are being questioned.
The NCA have said the drugs would have contributed to “violence and exploitation including what we see in county lines offending nationwide”.
