Games, Gadgets and Rhymes or better known as GGR is a series brought to you by GRM Daily which sees your favorite artists, producers and musicians go head to head in three hot games.

Over the years we’ve seen it all, sweaty goals, amazing comebacks, and an abundance of hilarious trash talk. As the new season of GGR approaches, here’s a look back at some of the most unforgettable moments.

The time Cadet had a whole separate conversation mid-game …

Back on Series One we saw South London rappers; Yungen and Cadet engage in an intense set of games. Yungen kicked off the episode with a three nil whitewash win on FIFA 16 to which Cadet retorted with the same energy. Cadet came out on top when the two played Mortal Kombat, whilst dominating, Cadet was so confident in his skills that decided to start up a conversation with one of the GGR presenters.

The time Dave took the trash talking crown …

In one our most popular GGR episodes to date, we saw AJ Tracey take on Dave. With the pair already being familiar with each other, working together on huge banger “Thiago Silva”, the banter was in full-force from the onset. Nonetheless, Dave’s trash talk remained unmatched. Ultimately, the Streatham rapper reigned supreme, gaining 20 points and was sure to let AJT know it in his funny victory speech.

The time Abra Cadabra had an explosive win on Street Fighter …

On the GGR Christmas special, we saw the “Dun Talking” collaborators; Abra Cadabra and Kojo Funds link up and play a few games. Kojo took his FIFA 17 in his stride, winning with an impressive set of goals. However, the Golden Boy fell short when it came to Streetfighter V. Abz started off the classic fighting game with the type of energy that is found on grime sets – this win was the first step in bagging him the ultimate victory. Not only did the Tottenham rapper take the GGR win, he also took home some cash as a result of the pair’s side bet.

The time Fekky tried to bribe a professional gamer …

GGR Series Three saw the introduction of the wild card. The player unlucky enough to get the wild card had to face up against a professional gamer with the opportunity to get 15pts for a win and 5pts for a loss. In an effort to secure the win, Fekky side-splittingly offered pro player PhantomSFX some sweet collateral …

The time Not3s said hasta la vista …

Series Three also saw Not3s and Jay Silva clash. The GGR episode started off with an intense game of Tekken 7, where Jay Silva got first blood and won. As the pair moved onto FIFA 17, we saw the heat get turned up for a seat gripping game that ended in a 4-2 victory for Jay Silva. As if the past two defeats weren’t enough, Not3s had to face up against pro gamer Dreeall on COD. That thrashing was the final straw and led Nots3 to say hasta la vista and leave the game, and building in haste.

The time Haile played with one hand on the controller …

Following a five nil loss to Avelino on FIFA 16, Haile was determined to redeem himself and he did that and more! In a similar fashion to Cadet’s merkage on MK, Haile displayed his expert skill on Street Figther V, dominating every round, all while playing with only one hand! – Making the L just that little bit worse.

The time Hardy Caprio tried to expose One Acen for using Autotune …

Hardy Caprio and One Acen have become one of the best unofficial duos in the UK scene, they came on the show over a year ago when tracks like “EIO” and “Best Life” were a mere thought. The pair, who are obviously friends; brought us an episode jam-packed with laughs and trash talk aplenty. The “Unsigned” artists competed in FIFA 17 and Tekken 7, before Hardy took on pro gamer Dreeall. Hardy’s hilarious clapback is undoubtedly one of the series funniest moments.

The Time One Acen shared the PS4 pad …

We’ve seen some braggadocios antics on GGR over the years, with One Acen being one of the top offenders. The Hardy and Acen match up produced several memorable moments, Hardy’s clapback being one of them and One Acen’s decision to share pads with pro gamer Dreeall is another.  The North London talent was lucky enough to have the pro gamer on his side and sat back and watched whilst Hardy met his demise on Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. As the game progressed, a win for One Acen seemed inevitable, so he and Dreeall thought they’d try and even the playing field for Hardy by sharing one pad.

The time Monkey from 67 tried underhanded tactics …

This episode featured 67 members; Monkey, LD, Dimzy and Liquez who played the usual staple of Tekken 7, FIFA 17 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. As things got passionate, Monkey got animated and tried his hardest to distract LD from the game. Spoiler – it didn’t work.
