Instagram has announced that they are launching a “Stories” feature, that is available in the latest app update. Some – OK, most – people think that they may have just slightly ripped off Snapchat.
Instagram Stories is in essence the exact same concept as Snapchat’s stories; less-curated and temporary photo and video updates.
Not only is the name exactly the same, but it seems the features are too. You’re limited to 10-second max updates, the stories feature as a row of small-circles and you can draw on and add emojis to them too. Ringing a bell yet?
Instagram staff member Kevin Weil doesn’t see it as outright catting though. He said, “When people first started using a hashtag outside of Twitter, it was a big deal.
“It’s become universal as a result. I think ‘the story’ is a fantastic format for sharing in the moment and giving people a picture of your daily life, and I think a lot of apps are going to adopt it.”
